LG says goodbye to its mobile phone business unit

LG Electronics has announced the closure of its mobile business unit, a decision approved today by the company’s Board of Directors. This will allow LG to dedicate more resources to other growth areas.

Therefore, the company will not launch new models of smartphones on the market, but already produced LG phones will continue to be available for purchase and with all current third-party application functionalities intact.

LG won’t make more mobile phones 

LG will continue to support users of mobile products, providing regular after-sales customer support and following the current policy for software and operating system updates.

In addition, the warranty stipulated for users will be maintained at all times and accessories and service parts will continue to be provided for existing models. You are also expected to work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure maximum transparency in your dissolution.

LG will not launch new smartphone models on the market, but already produced phones will continue to be available for purchase.

Mobile business closure

The company will continue to develop technologies related to the mobile sector, such as 6G, to strengthen its competitiveness in other business areas. All the main technologies developed during the two decades of operations in the sector will be maintained and applied to current and future products.

The effective date of the closure of the mobile business is scheduled for July 31, 2021.
